Yosemite’s Funniest Stories - Waterfall Spigot

  Date Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Here’s a true story overheard at the front desk of the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. A woman walked up to the desk and asked the desk clerk, “What time do they turn the waterfalls off?”

Stunned, the desk clerk handled it beautifully, responding compassionately, “Ma’am, the waterfalls are fed by melting snow. Until the snow has melted completely, the waterfalls will continue to flow.”

Satisfied, the woman thanked the clerk and left the lobby. Only after she was out of ear-shot did the clerk turn to another and say, “Did you hear that!?” while others in the lobby who had heard her question howled in laughter.
