Goofy Events to Open Fair

The Mariposa County Fair opens today (Friday, Aug. 31) with a lineup of silly, crowd-pleasing events on Family Fun Night, starting at 6 p.m.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with entries for the Fair’s Greased Pig Scramble. Not from people, but from the pigs, themselves!” says Mariposa County Tourism Bureau director Leroy Radanovich.

Other goofy competitions planned include a cowboy fence building contest, stick horse races, a barnyard scramble (a chase to collect chickens and ducks) and Daschund Races. Of course, this is high-brow fare, compared to the Destruction Derby planned for Saturday night (Sept. 1). For more about the Mariposa County Fair, CLICK HERE.
