Yosemite Lodge at the Falls
Positioned near the base of Yosemite Falls, the Yosemite Lodge at the Falls is thoroughly modern yet very much tied to the traditions of Yosemite National Park. This complex of 226 lodge rooms and 19 standard rooms (including 4 family rooms) are at the middle range of lodging prices and services within Yosemite Valley. All rooms include daily maid service.
Yosemite Lodge at the Falls was the original location of U.S. Army Cavalry troops who provided patrol protection for the national park from the late 1800s until the National Park Service was established to administer national parks in the early 1900s. In the 1960s, the lodge was built to replace the old Army facilities and later accommodations which had been added in succeeding years. In 1998, the main complex was redesigned with an emphasis on glass and wood detailing to blend harmoniously with its surroundings. Landscaping of indigenous trees, shrubs and wildflowers further reflect the natural beauty of Yosemite Valley.
The heart of Yosemite Lodge at the Falls is a central guest services complex around which guest rooms are clustered. There, guests have use of a large swimming pool, tour and activities desk, rental bike stand, trailheads, gift shop, nature shop, food court, cocktail lounge, meeting rooms, amphitheater and steakhouse.
If it sounds like a lot happens at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls, you’re right. This is a bustling place and crossroads where trails, shuttle bus routes and visitors converge for meals, information, supplies, evening entertainment and refreshment. You may never know whether the fit and tanned person seated near you in the Mountain Room happens to be one of the world’s elite rock climbers, though should you want to experience rock climbing, the tour desk in the lobby will arrange a lesson. And, if testing your courage and agility by climbing a boulder is not to your liking, walk the short distance to the base of Yosemite Falls or out onto a Yosemite Valley meadow for a moment of pure inspiration.
