Heritage Field Seminars
The Yosemite Association plans several heritage-focused field seminars in 2008. Here’s are some descriptions:
Yosemite’s First People - Aug. 3, Yosemite Valley, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Local Native-American, Ben Cunningham-Summerfield, shares stories of thousands of years of Indian History. $41/$35
Buffalo Soldiers of Yosemite - Sept. 14, Wawona, 9 a.m. to noon - Award-winning interpreter Shelton Johnson will introduce the Park’s first caretakers: African-American cavalrymen. $20/$17
Latinos in the Landscape - Sept. 14, Wawona, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Naturalist Betsy Rivera brings the hidden history of the Sierra Nevada’s Hispanic heritage to light. $20/$17
